MULTI-STORY BUILDINGS
Focus are gaining a solid reputation as providers of well-considered advice with respect to the development of high-rise buildings. We enjoy the challenge of working with other design professions and the client to develop suitable structural systems to meet the design and end use needs. This may also involve seeking and comparing alternative designs, evaluating different options to meet budget, site and construction requirements and constraints.
SEISMIC ASSESSMENT & STRENGTHENING
Much of New Zealand is situated on active seismic fault lines. New Zealand engineering consultants have gained decades of knowledge on seismic engineering learned from both local and international earthquakes.
At Focus, we make no assumptions about unknown factors when dealing with existing buildings. We strive to gain a full understanding of the structure and location of all buildings as much as we possibly can. We can undertake Initial Seismic Assessment (ISA) by using Initial Evaluation Procedure (IEP), and/or Detailed Seismic Assessments (DSA) to suit your needs and purpose.
In seismic strengthening design, we work closely with building owners and occupants, with the goal of developing solutions that suit the building layout and operational constraints. Our work covers commercial buildings, shops, warehouses, community hall structures, unreinforced masonry (URM) buildings and more.
EDUCATION BUILDINGS
Focus have accumulated many years of experience and developed considerable expertise with educational structures and buildings.
Included in the Education projects we work on are school classrooms, administration buildings, school halls and cultural buildings. From new builds to additions and alterations of existing structures, all are designed to meet the requirements of the building codes and standards, as well as those specifically required by the Ministry of Education.
RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS
Residential home owners in New Zealand have a large range of layouts and materials to choose from. Building sites can be anything from flat to very steep. Materials include natural timber, engineered wood products, structural steel, concrete masonry, reinforced concrete, and so on. Our aim is to make the best use of the site, materials and layout to achieve an end result that satisfies the architectural, aesthetic and practical needs of the client.
Our work includes townhouse developments, new homes, additions, alterations, re-piling and condition assessments.
INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS
Our responsive, customer-centred approach to all projects is also reflected in our work with owners and developers of Industrial buildings. We design warehouses, industrial plant supports and foundation, and seismic restraint of equipment and ceilings. It's important to us that all industrial buildings are optimised for their intended purpose and make the best use of space and materials.
